چکیده

Abstract Eurasian continent experienced significant warming during the past decades. West Asia locates in arid/semi-arid zone and its amplification has drawn lots of attention. However, climatic effect such a is not clear yet. In this study, we explored possible impacts recent land surface over on atmospheric general circulation climate. Results show that abnormal spring tends to increase precipitation North China but decrease (increase) (air temperature) Northeast early summer (June). It noted anomalies are much stronger eastern region North/Northeast China. Further analysis suggests can trigger eastward-propagating disturbance via diabatic heating, which benefits intensified circumglobal teleconnection (CGT) pattern, causing anomalous climate northern Sensitivity experiments demonstrate baroclinic instability Rossby waves propagate along westerly jet stream (WJS), resulting formation CGT. Due persistent thermal forcing interaction between basic flow (especially WJS) CGT, CGT be intensified. The wave center East responsible for increases (decreases) (Northeast) evident Our results suggest potential signal short-term prediction

Impacts of four northern-hemisphere teleconnection patterns on atmospheric circulations over Eurasia and the Pacific

The impacts of four teleconnection patterns on atmospheric circulation components over Eurasia and the Pacific region, from low to high latitudes in the Northern Hemisphere (NH), were investigated comprehensively in this study. The patterns, as identified by the Climate Prediction Center (USA), were the East Atlantic (EA), East Atlantic/ Western Russia (EAWR), Polar/Eurasia (POLEUR), and Scandi...

Impacts of urbanization on summer climate in China: An assessment with coupled land-atmospheric modeling

China has experienced unprecedented urbanization since the 1980s, resulting in substantial climatic effects from local cities to broad regions. Using the Weather Research and Forecasting model dynamically coupled to an urban canopy model, we quantified the summertime climate effects of urban expansion in China's most rapidly urbanizing regions: Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei (BTH), Yangtze River Delta (...

Basin mode of Indian Ocean sea surface temperature and Northern Hemisphere circumglobal teleconnection

[1] Observational analysis and model experiments show that the sea surface temperature anomaly associated with the Indian Ocean Basin mode (IOBM), which persists from spring to summer, can generate significant circumglobal teleconnection (CGT) in the Northern Hemisphere summer midlatitude atmosphere. A warm IOBM can induce a new atmospheric heating source in the south Asia through a positive fe...

Investigation of the atmospheric circulation anomalies associated with extreme rainfall events over the Coastal West Africa

This study investigates the atmospheric circulation associated with extreme rainfall events over the coastal West Africa. The rainfall data of this study were obtained from the Global Precipitation Climatology Centre (GPCC), spanning from 1981 to 2010. The atmospheric datasets were also obtained from the ERA-Interim reanalysis. The study employed the Z-Index to categorize dry and wet years into...
